Fleetwood

Located in the northwest corner of the Flyde, Fleetwood has a population of 26,000. A neighboring town to busy seaside resort Blackpool, it is loved for its beautiful seaside views and its quieter side compared to Blackpool. Fleetwood was famous for its pier, until this hit the headlines in 2008 for being burnt down and destroyed. The town also has a well liked museum which is based in the oldest building in Fleetwood at Queens Terrace. For something a bit different, for over 35 years the town has also held a Fylde Folk Festival at the Marine Hall. Many known names come from the town, including George Smith who played for Manchester City. There is also a massive outlet shopping centre called Freeport in Fleetwood which has over 50 shops and restaurants and offers loads of discount on all your normal brands.
