DarwenLocated not far from Blackburn; Darwen makes up part of the Borough of the Moors in Lancashire, extending on the West Pennine Moors. Darwen football club was formed in 1870 and was actually the first English football club to have paid professional players. Beatrix Potter’s family also came from the area and are famous for making paper in Darwen and back in 1931 Ghandi even visited the area. Over the past 10 years Darwen has grown massively especially with links to the major uk motorways with the opening of the M65 back in 1997. Even more improvements were announcned alongside the Darwen Town Centre Masterplan in 2007 when the whole town was revamped, including included traffic improvements, public transport improvements and new Street Furniture. |
